We have experimentally found rising liquid film flow and subsequent atomization for Newtonian fluid using a rotating cone. When the film flow goes up fully upward, the liquid film cannot keep the filmwise condition and is eventually atomized into a mist flow.On the other hand,it is expected that the atomization characteristics are changed for non-Newtonian fluid.Namely, the atomized liquid droplets are spherical for Newtonian fluid, while they might be filament or ligament shape for non-Newtonian fluid due to a thread-forming property or a spinnability. In this research,we apply the rising film flow mechanism using a rotating cone to perform a ligament formation or filamentation of high-viscosity liquid with the thread-forming property in order to produce nonwoven fabrics.
