We do not have an ideal theory of integrated systems in human.After more than 20 years hard works,a Chinese physiologist presented some parts of holistic physiology at conferences of American Physiology Society.Methods: Using the continuous measurements of O2, CO2 and H+ at arterial blood and venous blood and continuous calculations of O2, CO2 at alveoli, we constructed a new theoretical structure of holistic physiology to explain how all systems integrated each other.Results: Therewere stable O2, CO2 and H+ at venous blood, but they became up-down wave form at arterial blood.The O2, CO2 at alveoli were similar to these at arterial blood, with higher magnitude.Conclusion: Lung ventilation generated oscillatory waves of O2, CO2 at alveoli are the initiator of next breath.Circulatory function is one key control factor of breath.Circulatory variability (HR, SBP and autonomic tone) follows breath rhythm.Integrated respiration and circulation maintains the stability of metabolism.The life regulation is performed by physiological integrate of all systems.
