Globular clusters(GCs)beyond the Local Group are generally not resolved into stars,so the information we can obtain for each individual GC is limited to basic properties such as luminosity,color,stellar mass,metallicity,and occasionally the size and an integrated SED.By moving to larger distances,however,we can study GCs in a much larger range of host galaxies and environments than are available locally.Over the past two decades,studies of extragalactic GC systems have revealed the aggregate properties of GCs and how they relate to their host galaxies.I will review some of the main characteristics of GC systems in early-type galaxies across the mass range from dwarf galaxies to entire galaxy clusters.I will focus on observations from HST and,most recently,the Next Generation Virgo Survey.
