Background Previous studies claiming the relationship between thyroid dysfunciton and poor prognosis of heart failure had a major limitation that they included patients with different etiology.With full information of thyroid function profile from four hundred and fifty eight consecutive patients with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, we tested the hypothesis that thyroid status can independently influence the morality in patients with heart failure.
