  Systems biology, a study of how biological functions emerge from the combined interactions of molecular components reflect the importance to know how the neurons internal molecular mechanisms implement the transformation from input signals to neuronal output responses.In Neuroscience, a signaling pathway involves active information processing, a pathway that relays information from a neurons membrane to its nucleus, where it influences gene transcription, a view that needs to account for multiple positive and negative feedbacks and considerable intermolecular interactions arisingfrom posttranslational modifications, such as phosphorylation, methylation and acetylation.
