Quality of seedlings is important for the success of plantations. In this study, the performance of Olga bay larch (Larix olgensis Henry) seedlings three years after field planting was evaluated. The result shows that high survival rates were achieved for all five types of stocks in the first growing season when weeds were controlled. In the second and third growing seasons, significant differences were observed in survival rates among different stocktypes. The 1+1 type of Olga bay larch seedling demonstrated better performance than 1+0 type of seedlings. The 1+1 type seedling with a root collar diameter between 0.60 cm and 0.75 cm had greater survival rates and better early growth than other types of seedlings. The root collar diameter of seedlings shows a significant correlation with the field performance for both 1+1 and 1+0 seedlings in the first and second seasons and thus can be adopted as an indicator for predicting potential field performance of seedlings.
