One of the key factors that affecting the performance of direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is the anodic catalyst. In the oxidation process of methanol at the anode, the intermediate product can be adsorbed on the catalyst surface, thereby affecting the catalytic efficiency. In this work,we used cyclic voltammetry to deposit PtPdPt layered catalyst on an electrode to study the catalysis for methanol oxidation, and the comparison with Pt,PtPd,Pd and PdPt catalyst. The results revealed that the catalytic performance of the composite catalyst formed by Pd and Pt was significantly improved due to the dual-function effect of Pd.
