Purpose: SPECT is playing an important role in nuclear medicine imaging area. The installation quantity of this scanning device keeps on increasing in China recently, while the imaging quality control(QC)was not well carried out in many places. The aim of this research project is to develop a series of QC testing tools for SPECT scanners according to the new Chinese national standard. This work will obviously prompt the release of the mandatory annual inspection for SPECT devices in our country which can increases the diagnostic accuracy and reduces the radiation scanning risk. Methods: This thesis first introduces key parameters of SPECT scanner and some related QC standards, and shows the present situation of the QC implements and problems for the nuclear medicine imaging devices in our country. We in-depth analyzed the newly promulgated Chinese national standards of SPECT QC requirements and testing methods, and developed a new data processing software system for SPECT QC in accordance with the recent GB.Results: The system is applicable to our national standard specification, and also can analyze collected data according to the NEMA standard. With these tools and a domestic-made RGRMS-2012 SPECT performance testing phantom(the phantom is developed according to NEMA2007 standard, applicable for the Chinese national new standard),we did some QC tests on several SPECT devices of different models, and analyzed the test results of various performance indices of SPECT,verified the developed software system, and also provided clinical validation for the performance of domestic-made phantoms. Conclusions: The results shows that our QC testing software can well measure the system plane sensitivity, intrinsic spatial resolution, intrinsic linearity, system spatial resolution, reconstruction spatial resolution and whole-body spatial resolution of SPECT devices.
