As an important crop pests, cellulose of Gramineae can be digested in locust gut.In order to illustrate the mechanism of digesting cellulose in locust digestive tract, cellulolytic activity and zymography in gut of 16 locust species were determined with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as the substrate.The diversity of gut symbioticbacteria were studied using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE).
