In 1991,the first commercial digital high-speed video camera was developed by Etoh,et al.Since then,they have been updating the frame rate: 4,500 fps in 1991,1 Mfps in 2002,and 16 Mfps in 2011.Currently,an image sensor operating at 1 Giga fps is under development.The history of the evolution of the ultra-high-speed video cameras is presented with images in various scientific fields taken with these cameras.
