The Fe-6.5%Si thin sheet is an ideal core material with excellent soft magnetic properties including high permeability, extremely low core loss and low noise. The formability in rolling procedure and optimizing recrystailization texture are two critical aspects to retard its application. In this study, the mechanical property was analyzed to determine the appropriate rolling parameter range, and the texture development through processing procedure were investigated. The Fe-6.5%Si sheets with different thickness were produced by conventional rolling and annealing method. It is found that the final recrystallization texture reveals a distinct dependence on cold rolling reduction. At cold rolling reduction of 50% to 65%, the η fiber (〈001〉//RD) dominates recrystallization texture after final annealing. At cold rolling reduction above 75%, the γ-fiber (〈111〉//ND) and λ-fiber (〈001〉//ND) dominated recrystallization texture, and γ-fiber significantly decreased with the increase of reduction. The variation of recrystallization texture in Fe-6.5%Si sheets with cold rolling reduction can be attributed to the effect of deformation microstructure and texture on the characteristic of thermodynamics and kinetics during nucleation and grain growth of recrystallized grains with different orientations. Finally, the magnetic properties were measured, and the Fe-6.5%Si thin sheets were proved to be an advanced core material under frequency from 400Hz to 40kHz.
