Catalytic conversion of cellulose to polyols is very attractive for the biomass utilization for producing high-value energy chemicals.A versatile binary catalyst of Ni-La(OH)3/La203 was explored for the cellulose conversion to Ethylene glycol (EG).It afforded ca.50.7% EG yield and 80.1% overall polyols yield with reasonable reusability under the stabilization of La2O3 to the metallic Ni particles.
