Purpose:Most of the hip fractures occur by falls of frail elderly people.In order to formulate strategies to prevent falls leading to hip fracture,the characteristics of the falls of the patients should be clarified in more detail.We investigated the fall situations of hip fracture patients.Subjects:Eighty female and seventeen male hip fracture patients with an average age of 82.3y.who were admitted to the hospital of the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology during the period between April lof 2001 and March 31of 2003.
