We demonstrate that Dirac fermions can be created and manipulated in two-dimensional electron gas by means of STM manipulation of molecules or supramolecular self-assembly.Using the first method,we arranged coronene molecules one by one on a Cu(111) surface to construct artificial graphene structures with aperiodical structures.We made graphene nanoribbons with perfect zigzag (ZGNRs) or arm-chair (AGNRs) edges and confirmed that new states localized along the edges emerge only in the ZGNRs.We further studied several typical topological defects,such as single vacancies,Stone-Wales defects and grain boundary dislocation lines and found that all these defects introduce localized states at or near Dirac point in the quasi-particle spectra.
