Since monoclonal antibodies are highly specific for the antigens of interest,they have been widely used for elucidating the biological functions of proteins,the diagnosis of many diseases and for therapeutic purposes.To raise monoclonal antibodies,antibody-producing B lymphocytes need to be fused with cancerous myeloma cells to give rise to hybridoma cells that can continuously secrete aimed monoclonal antibodies.Several protocols have been shown to generate them based on poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG),haemagglutinating virus of Japan (HVJ),pearl-chain formation and laser radiation.However,these methods cause non-specific fusions between not only B lymphocyte and myeloma cell,but also B lymphocyte and B lymphocyte,and myeoma cell and myeloma cell.
