Background:Th17 cells secreting interleukin(IL)-22 displays immunodulotory and protective properties in the liver and other tissues.IL-22 induces proinflammatory gene expression is mitogenic and antiapoptotic,it may perform multiple roles in the immune response to hepatitis B virus(HBV).Methods:We therefore examined the IL-22 expression in HBV infected patients in vitro by flow cytometry and ELISA.The effect of IL-22 on inflammatory regulation in vivo was also measured using HBV transgenic mice.
