During the past few decades, the world has been experiencing an apparent boost in the atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) level rising directly from the combustion of fossil fuels. To deal with this serious problem, a solar-energy based technology seems promising for recycling CO2 into some readily transportable solar fuels that can fulfill the energy requirements according to the demands in present energy infrastructure. In this work, it is shown that CO2 can be efficiently reduced to methane under visible-light irradiation (λ≥ 400 nm) with SrTiO3-ZnTe nanocomposites synthesized by a solvothermal route.
