Emerging applications of elemental imaging have been found in the biomedical and clinical field. There are several examples of bioimaging using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS),such as brain, liver and kidney[1].The spatial distribution of biologically essential elements(Cu,Zn,Fe)and other metals(Pt,Gd)can provide valuable information for understanding the accumulation and metabolism of the elements. In this project,we have successfully performed bioimaging using LA-ICP-MS in mice liver, kidney,as well as mice whisker after drug administration, demonstrating the potential use of LA-ICP-MS in drug development study and biomonitoring.
