　　We study the electron-positron pair creation in an oscillating field by solving the time dependent Dirac equation numerically.The comparison of the numerical data with existing analytical results derived from the S-matrix theory and simple perturbation theory at a variety of field strengths and frequencies reveals different mechanisms for pair creation.
