Modeling and simulation are a growing presence in drug development as more companies across the pharmaceutical industry embrace model based drug development (MBDD) for its ability to provide quantitative information for making decisions about projects and portfolios.MBDD supports a learn and confirm strategy1 of knowledge development.This strategy uses the developed models to capture current knowledge of the compound and/or diseases being investigated.Predictions are made using the models and then verified in further investigations.New information is used to update the current state of knowledge by refining the models.
