“艺术教育小组”成立并工作于中国大连,小组的核心成员作为艺术家身份的张滨和叶洪图同时以高校教师的身份在体制内经历着“另一种”生活方式,这种方式是大多数人都乐于接受的方式,但对于他们却更加清晰的感受到存在的问题,并以艺术的方式提出问题,这是他们思考、置疑和表达所赖以存在的土壤。小组的创作工作着眼于中国当代社会急速发展的城市化进程和由此所表征的文化精神内涵的变换。在具体的创作中寻求新的方法论。在艺术展示形式、创作内容的具体定义以及材料语言的运用上找寻新的可能性。“艺术教育小组”几年来的创作实践一直把当代艺术创作和艺术教育以及教学结合起来,正是自身这种体制内和学院的教师身份,把日常教学行为视为一个长期的艺术创作活动,身份的局限同时也提供了无所不能的创作自由。“艺术教育小组”认为这样的创作方法论更具在场感,更有效,更具建设性。因此“艺术教育小组”也可以理解为:一个研究所,大连理工大学当代艺术研究所;一个教研室(科研团队或工作实验室)即大连理工大学(DLUT)建筑与艺术学院基础美术教研室;一个持续发展的动态的教学科研项目,大连理工大学(DLUT)人文社会科学基金资助项目(2008—2010),中央高校基本科研业务费专项资金资助项目以及其他几个出版基金项目等。同样,“艺术教育小组”将自我工作所设定的时间(1997——2034),也就是把大连“艺术教育”当代艺术小组成员在体制内完成“艺术教育”的过程,37年,视为一个完整的作品。一件已经做了14年,还将做23年的当代艺术作品。
