语域是语言学中的重要概念。在文学作品中,使用“语域偏离”可以达到特定的修辞效果。《田纳西的新闻界》是马克·吐温在19世纪70年代创作的一篇讽刺性的短篇小说,其中包含了两篇风格迥异的《田纳西新闻界的风气》的新闻报道。在第二篇《田纳西新闻界的风气》中,作者有意使用了大量“跨域词”来烘托讽刺幽默效果。文章结合COHA语料库分析两篇报道的用词情况,寻找作者如何通过使用“跨域词”来讽刺当时田纳西新闻界的糟糕风气,从而达到幽默效果。
Register is an important concept in linguistics. In literary works, the use of “register deviation ” can achieve a specific rhetorical effect. The “Tennessee Press” is a satirical short story by Mark Twain in the 1870s that contains two news stories about the “Tennessee style of the press”. In the second article, The Tenacity of the Press in Tennessee, the author intends to use a large number of “cross-domain words” to contrast ironic humorous effects. This article analyzes the two reported terms in COHA corpus, and seeks to find out how the author used the “cross-domain word” to satirize the bad atmosphere of the Tennessee press at that time so as to achieve the humorous effect.
