土山湾画馆是在西方教会的直接影响与需求下创办的,是中国有史以来最早的西洋美术教育机构,土山湾画馆本身是以西方传教士文化为载体,在复杂多变的社会环境下,渗入了中国的文化形态,建立了适于自身长期运营的模式,并在客观上对中国近代的工艺与美术教育起到启蒙与推进作用。从土山湾画馆走出来很多杰出的画家和美术教育家,他们对中国近百年的美术发展有着深远的影响。
Tushanwan Art Museum was founded under the direct influence and demand of the Western Church. It is the earliest Western art education institution in China. Tushanwan Art Museum itself is based on the Western missionary culture. Under the complex and ever-changing social environment , Infiltrated China’s cultural patterns and established a model suitable for its own long-term operation, and objectively played an enlightening and promoting role in the arts and fine arts education in modern China. Many outstanding painters and art educators came out of Tushanwan Art Museum, and they have a profound influence on the development of art in China in recent one hundred years.
