Objectives Endometriosis affects up to about 20% of women in their reproductive years,is associated with chronic pelvic pain,infertility,dysmenorrheal and dyspareunia.The endometriotic tissues progress with complicated internal mechanisms and have the characteristic of sustained proliferation,anti-apoptotic ability,migration and invasion.The current therapies,based on hormonal pharmacotherapy or surgery,are insufficient due to the high cost and recurrence rate.Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2),as a novel biomarker and molecule target,was shown to regulate survival of endometriotic cells.However,the traditional selective inhibitor,such as Celecoxib,could increase the risk of serious coronary heart diseases.
